Love, Life, Loss and Everything in Between

Owning my Grief-Lucy Dogley-Darani

Lucy Dogley-Darani is a Grief and Bereavement Counsellor based in the United Kingdom. Through her own grief she turned to learning and personal development. She shares her journey of love, life, loss and Everything in Between.

Over 20 years ago I left the beautiful Seychelles Islands to settle in the UK to rebuild my life, after several personal setbacks. Initially, I would travel back every two years to see my parents. Two of the most painful journeys I made back to Seychelles were to attend the funerals of my parents five years apart.

In between my parents’ deaths, I also lost my husband Lawrence, whom I had married in the UK for eight years.

Regrets, I had a lot for not having been there for my parents during their illness and their last days and certainly a lot of anger about the incurable illness that took away my beloved husband’s life at the prime of our marriage.

In my grief, I turned to learning and personal development which led me to become a Life Coach, to enable me to help other people discover ways to deal with their life challenges and reach their desired goals.

In the last five years, I developed a special interest in working with widows and women who had lost their life partners as well as couple counselling.

A year ago, I obtained a diploma in Grief and Bereavement Counselling and I went on to specialise in helping grievers understand their grief journey and learn how to manage emotions of  regret, anger, guilt and blame.

Happy Women’s day
